Feeling warm and gooey
Tuesday, May 25th, 2004So I got my second review on Fiction Press for my ongoing novel project today. It was very kind and motivating. Things around my office have been so negative today (everyone seems to be menstrating at once – which is more startling since only 2 of our 12 employees are women) that a positive little note like that made a phenomenal change in my day.
One of my friends from real life, a fellow activist, once told me that he keeps a file drawer of positive notes, letters and cards to remind him why he continues doing the things he cares about. He calls it the “Me File” because whenever he’s feeling burn-out, he goes to the file for some praise.
I’ve made it my goal not to leave the office until I’ve found at least one or two writers deserving of a little praise and heaping it on them.
Of course, I can never praise the phenomal work done by Masquerade *-*-*masqthephlsphr”>on her website All Things Philosophical on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Series, but I think I’ll mostly focus on non-friends for this little activity.
