Blind Prophecy

8:45 a.m. Stop hitting the snooze button and get out of bed.

8:46 a.m. Shower.

8:55 a.m. Out of shower, brush teeth, get dressed. No time to shave today.

8:58 a.m. Depart for work.

9:02 a.m. Stop by gas station for cigarettes/soda.

9:08 a.m. Arrive at work (hope no one realizes I’m 8 minutes late).

9:12 a.m. Turn on computer, open iTunes and email.

9:45 a.m. Finished reading email, responding, & deleting junk mail (really, I have no desire to satisfy my woman, meet sexy coeds, or purchase an amazing natural alternative to Viagra), I now switch over to the internet and surf through the latest news on gay.com, 365gay.com and the local papers. Noting a few interesting stories, I print out copies and put them into my research file.

10:30 a.m. We had proofs come back from the printer of our June issue of Qvegas. I did a final proofreading, checked ad placement, and made notes about design ideas and changes for next month.

12:15 p.m. Began proofing stories for the June 15 issue of OUT Las Vegas and transferring files to the production computer.

1:30 p.m. Searched for graphics to compliment stories for OLV.

2:30 p.m. Lunch (we seem to have a lot of late lunches recently), I had a veggie “turkey” sandwich.

3:10 p.m. Earl, our Director of Community Relations, and I had an errand-running meeting. He had to drop off invitations to our next party at the printer. I rode with him to bend his ear about our annual National Coming Out Day Festival. We brainstormed ideas and suggestions for our planning committee.

3:45 p.m. Returned to the office. Started surfing the web and answered a few more emails.

4:10 p.m. Earl and I rode out to the proposed site of our NCOD Festival to discuss logistics and space planning.

4:40 p.m. Return to office and decided it was time to blog for the rest of the work day.

8:00 p.m. After blogging, reading discussion boards, etc. called it a day and packed up my laptop.

8:05 p.m. Stopped by Albertsons to get some dinner. Decided I wanted junk food instead and bought microwave popcorn and string cheese.

8:45 p.m. Got home, realized there was nothing I wanted to watch on TV, so I flipped on my DVD player and watched my screener copy of Latter Days (again). Popped open my laptop and went to work on my novel. Couldn’t force anything new, so I made notecards about characters and arranged them around my desk.

10:05 p.m. Realized I hadn’t paid my electric yet this month, so I tracked down the bill and set it aside for the next day.

10:15 p.m. With the news playing in the background, I got crazy and shaved my head again. It’s been about 2 months since I last shaved it all off. Going bald sucks. You know what sucks more, shaving it off and discovering that you had grey hairs you didn’t know about. You know what sucks even more, realizing that you’re bald and going gray right before your 27th birthday!

11:30 p.m. Cleaned bathroom after making a mess with the head shaving.

12:15 p.m. Lied down to sleep. Tossed and turned in bed for a long time.

1:00 a.m. (ish) Unable to sleep, got up and wrote a list of things to accomplish the next day. Why do so many brilliant ideas occur when you’re trying to nod off?

1:20 a.m. (ish) Turned off all lights and forced myself to lie still until falling asleep.
