I’m getting worked up

I feel a cause coming on. Damn my activist tendencies.

I found out that Nevada law treats the age of consent for sex differently for gay or straight couples. Under our law, if I was 18 years old today, and my boyfriend was 17 years, 364 days old – I would be committing a felony by having sex with him. If I even propositioned him for sex, I’d be guilty of a gross misdemeanor.

Meanwhile, straight couples can have sex as long as both parties are over 16, regardless of how many years separate them.

This is the kind of thing that pisses me off. I can try and make people publicly aware of it through my magazine, but there’s no guarantee that enough people will care to try and get the law repealed. Yup, I smell a one-man crusade coming on.
