Back from the break

Wow, I used to be so muhc more obsessive about this. Well, I just had a 6-day weekend and no internet access at home (the computer got fried), and I just didn’t want to drive through the snow and cold to get to the office to write in my LJ. Plus, been trying to focus [...]

My boyfriend is gayer than other boys

Monday, November 22nd, 2004

I got the new Rufus Wainwright album Want Two over the weekend and I’m pretty sure that I’d like to have that man’s children now. Biological problems notwithstanding, I loved every second of the album, from the creepy is-there-something-wrong-with-my-speakers noise that begins the lovely “Agnus Dei” through the final chords of “Old Whore’s Diet.” Rufus [...]

Fannish Stuff

Now, I’m not saying that my Angel-loving friends must immediately take the time to go check out the latest installment of Anel: Season 6, but seriously, don’t keep putting it off. Mostly because I’m an attention whore and you might notice that my name is generously included alongside *-*-*atpo_onm”>’s in the writing credits.

I just read one of the best articles I’ve seen about understanding the difference between liberals and religious conservatives. The author points out the worst assumptions we make when polarizing one another. So I’m encouraging everyone to read the article, because it certainly gave me food for thought…

Last Week’s West Wing

Tuesday, November 16th, 2004

Now I’m feeling the need to make superfluous drive-by posts because I’ve been so bad about LJ this week. Anyway, this has been on my mind since last Wednesday when a certain good witch from Broadway showed up on West Wing…
Am I the only person who watched the scene between Kristin Chenoweth’s character and Toby [...]

*pant pant*

Tuesday, November 16th, 2004

Wow, so it’s been a week since I last posted. Things got crazy busy all of a sudden. The post-election issue of the paper was a lot more difficult than I expected, largely because there were just so many interesting things to comment on. Our cover story analyzed where the money came from in the [...]

Three random things.
1. Spent some time today playing with my LJ settings. I think I hate the changes and will switch back, but want to give myself a day or two to decide.
2. Marry An American made me giggle for a while today. So did the letter David Frisby posted over on the ATPO board, [...]

Where Do We Go From Here?: Liberal Activism in "Jesusland."

Monday, November 8th, 2004

Yesterday’s church sermon was, predictably, on the topic of healing as a nation. I listened to Rev. Dennison’s wonderful advice on listening to our opponents, speaking up about our beliefs, and generally coming together as a diverse community which respects each other’s views.
And all I could think was “well, these are pretty words.”
The hurt, crying [...]
