Fannish Stuff

Now, I’m not saying that my Angel-loving friends must immediately take the time to go check out the latest installment of Anel: Season 6, but seriously, don’t keep putting it off. Mostly because I’m an attention whore and you might notice that my name is generously included alongside *-*-*atpo_onm”>’s in the writing credits.

I don’t know if anyone else is bothering with Jack & Bobby on the WB, but a good friend tipped me off that I’d like last night’s episode. Since it directly interferes with my West Wing watching, I taped it. I’m glad I did. Seriously, I think this is the first time I’ve seen gay teenager suicide dealt with in an emotionally compelling, realistic and thoughtful way on broadcast television. I also have to say that Grace’s gay brother (played by Tom Cavanaugh) is the most well-rounded and convincing gay character I’ve seen on broadcast television since Willow. And that’s saying quite a lot after only one episode. No stereotypes, no heavy-handed politics, just a guy who happens to be gay. Anyway, the point is that now I’m back to the old Wednesday night drama. I must tape one show (Jack & Bobby) while watching another (West Wing) and I’m really not that fanatical about my television viewing. Last year I could get away with it because, well, it was Angel, but neither of these shows is a Whedon project. So between those shows and Smallville (this season’s theme: get Clark nekkid – although he remained oddly clothed throughout last night’s show), I guess I’m going to miss the Lost bandwagon.

Finally, I told my sister that if I’m being forced to wait until X-mas for my Buffy Season 7 DVDs, they better not say a goddam thing when I bring home the next Harry Potter movie next week. I already have to wait until payday (tomorrow) to get the new Rufus Wainwright CD.
