The 8th ring of hell is where the devil forces you to spend all day doing data entry into Excel

Oh boring day…

Since the paper went to the printer yesterday, today was once again paperwork time! I’m going to fall asleep just thinking about it again. No more Excel spreadsheets. Nooooooo….

Okay, now that that’s out of the way. I started a new Mercedes Lackey book yesterday. I have to be careful because these things are like crack to me. The title I picked up was in paperback and called The Outstretched Shadow by both Lackey and James Mallory… with the words “The Obsidian Trilogy: Volume One” underneath it.

See, that was my mistake. Never buy book one of something called a “trilogy” when book two is still in hardback in the new release section. Anyway, I don’t know how Lackey works this magic of hers, but within 50 pages of almost any of her books, I’m completely hooked into the story. I’m emotionally invested in what happens to the characters. In some of her books, she describes bards as having the power to make people feel the emotions they want them to feel. Lackey herself must have some of that magic.

If you’re not a fantasy fan, she probably won’t appeal to you much. But I love her stuff.
