The Day After

Christmas was wonderful. I got all the items I asked for (which wasn’t surprising since I only asked for three things). An electic razor, Sims 2 and Buffy Season 7. I also got a homemade cap, scarf, two new shirts, and a magnetic dart game. The young ones enjoyed all their gifts, although with three new video games for the PS2, I may have lost my bedroom for the next several weeks.

My sister Joanna bought the entire family tickets to see Phantom of the Opera and, for the most part, I liked the movie version. They’ve trimmed act 2 down from the stage production, which was okay. The sound editor for the film ought to be shot, however. A good rule of thumb is that if you notice the sound editing, they’ve screwed up. I expect the film to be a big hit with those young girls who romantisize the idea of being “goth.” There were more than a few shots of Christine (with heaving bosoms – they heaved throughout the entire movie) walking through mist filled beutiful sets. Like the cemetery, where everyone was buried beneath a large and gorgeous granite statue.

Lots of things to discuss, but I’ll catch up over the week.

Exciting news concerning my Bay Area friends:
Two of my cousins (brothers) who live near San Francisco got engaged yesterday. That means I’ll have not one, but two occasions to visit the Bay Area this summmer. The younger cousin is getting married on July 8 (which means I’m probably not going to the NY meet again), and the older one is likely to be married in August. These family functions always leave me with extra time on my hands, so I’m sure I’ll be able to get together with anyone who’s available and in town. They live in Fremont, but I’m well versed in using BART & other public transport to get most anywhere in the area. More discussion to follow, I’m sure.

Hope everybody had a good holiday. My sincerest thoughts and prayers for those with family mmebers or friends in Southern Asia.
