Can’t… resist…. meme…….
Wednesday, February 16th, 2005Damn you all and your evil peer pressure.
ganked from roughly 95% of my flist.
Willow. Unfortunately, I’d seen SMG in interviews and she struck me as the dumbest dumb blonde in real life, so it took me a while to realize that she may appear dizzy seated across from David Letterman, but she’s a fine actress and Buffy is not SMG. AH’s portrayal of Willow, on the other hand, was easy to love.
2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now:
Joyce. I didn’t start watching the show from the beginning, and as it turned out, the sporatic episodes I watched before becoming a regular viewer weren’t the most flattering of Buffy’s mom – especially when watched out of context (like “Dead Man’s Party,” for example). Of course, by the time “The Body” rolled around, I was a weepy, distraught mess.
3. The character everyone else loves that you don’t:
Xander. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t really dislike him, I just thought he got the shaft in terms of interesting storylines and character growth. Plus, I lost all sympathy for him with “Hell’s Bells.” Sorry, I just didn’t agree with his choice and thought him a major hypocrite and coward for choosing the path he did.
4. The character you love that everyone else hates:
Andrew. Poor maligned, misunderstood Andrew. The butt of everyone’s jokes, lacking in the essential social skills, and certainly not a fan favorite. But I’ve said it before and I’ll stand by it forever. Andrew is like taking a fan of the show and actually putting him into it. Hero-worship, geekish obsession, annoying insistence that his opinions and wishes be respected… maybe people didn’t like him cuz he hit too close to home.
5. The character you used to love but don’t any longer:
Can I say Faith without getting stones thrown at me? Actually, the problem is that I don’t like Faith on BtVS after season 3. On AtS, I still love her, but she just never really fit as well into the BtVS world after her interaction with Angel during AtS Season 1. The whole re-bonding with Buffy, learning leadership, gettin’ jiggy wit da principal storyline at the end of season 7 just took some of the fantastic oomph out of her character for me.
Of the non-transplants from BtVS, I’m going with Lorne. The first season was more or less a wash for me in first-time viewing, but I thought “The Host” was the quirkiest, fun character on the show as he became more involved in the lives of the cast. I always wish Mutant Enemy had done more with him.
2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now:
I’m going to have to echo Masq on the Darla answer here – for much the same reasons she gave.
3. The character everyone else loves that you don’t:
I really can’t come up with a good answer here. There aren’t many characters I disliked on AtS.
4. The character you love that everyone else hates:
I could say Connor, but I seem to be surrounded by people who appreciate the little rascal, so I don’t really know that “everyone” hates him. So I’m going to be more controversial and name two characters I “liked” (not loved) that many others did not – the princess demon from “She” and Eve from season 5. Never quite got why everyone disliked these characters so much.
5. The character you used to love but don’t any longer:
The WB. Wait, they’re not a character. Um… Well, I understand that this is a fairly popular opinion, but Cordelia. Specifically “Saint Cordy” and “ugly-dress-wearing-babymomma Cordy.”
