Friday, February 18th, 2005The latest issue of the paper was a monster. We did our first “readers’ choice” awards called “Utah’s Best of 2005.” I hadn’t expected so much response when we started, but it turned out pretty awesome. It’s also the biggest and highest grossing issue since I took over at the paper. If you like, you can read all about it here.
We’re also hosting an awards party on March 5 to recognize the winners. I’m kinda excited about this – we have some really cool things planned already. Our invitation is also pretty spiffy (it’s based on the issue’s cover design)…

Anyway, the moving is going well, although I’m exhausted. So far, the bulk of the actual lifting and carrying has been on me. Dad’s diabetes exhausts him rather quickly, Mom is spending time trying to keep things from being put in the wrong room and “supervising” and the younger kids do more packing than anything else. I can’t wait for this weekend when my brother-in-laws and some family friends will be there to help. I guess my parent’s bishop is arranging to have some of the ward’s Priests (in Mormonism, that refers to guys between the ages of 16-19 – or until they leave on their missions) come help out.
Several of the ward’s priests were at Jordan’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor last weekend and these are very fine looking young men. I would have guessed them to be in their early 20s. I’m so used to hanging around people who don’t care if I tease them, stare and flirt – I’m going to be biting my lip really hard to stay on good behavior. Although, the twisted part of me wishes I hadn’t already packed and hidden away my DVD stash of certain adult entertainment. It would have been fun to see them squirm.
