Howdy-ho
Saturday, April 23rd, 2005I’m wearing my funky faux-snakeskin cowboy hat today (
I heard at that meeting that Matt Cockrum, the minister of UU Ogden, has resigned to take a new position in another city. That’s a shame on so many levels. Matt was well respected and liked in the community and I believe would have grown UU Ogden dramatically given time. He was also (I am told) one of Sean’s best friends in Utah, and one of the things that this morning really drove home for me is that Sean is only human and needs peers and friends who are not congregants (and therefore, related to his job).
I went to see Sin City last night because despite having a paycheck and sexy underwear, I really didn’t want to drink. I’m glad I made the effort to see it in the theater. I can now say that if I ever have to be killed, I want Josh Hartnett in a suit to tell profound things about myself, say he loves me, then shoot me with a silencer and hold me close to him until it’s over. Is that an option if ever I’m on death row?
I should be in the office today, hammering out my editorial, last minute news, and checking for stories that came in after deadline… but I just can’t bring myself to drive all the way downtown. I want to be productive in different ways today. I vaccuumed my room (and the whole basement), sorted my CDs (I need to go buy a new wallet for them) and got my brothers outside to work on the yard. I’d go myself and help them, but we have actual cotton from the cottonwood trees drifting through the air and 30 seconds outdoors causes me to start sneezing like crazy. For adult onset allergies, they aren’t messing around or easing me into this.
