Blind Prophecy

So it wasn’t being extremely busy or overwhelmed that has kept me off LJ since Monday. On Monday night, the wind knock out power in the block where my office is and we had no electricity all day Tuesday (which led to a rather competative game of Scrabble in the office before everyone gave up and went home).

Yesterday, we had power again, but our Internet Service Provider, in their infinite wisdom, had somehow chosen a Wednesday morning as the best time to do server work. What should have taken a few minutes ended up knocking their entire system offline for almost 24 hours.

Now, I’m two days behind schedule for the paper, which puts me even further behind schedule of Pride. And, dear friends, my van has finally and officially given up the ghost. We have reached that point where the monthly cost of repairs, permits, tests and towing have far surpassed (over a period of three months) what I would be paying for a new vehicle. I will be donating Bertha (the van’s name) to charity for spare parts or whatever.

The only modern conveniance that hasn’t imploded on me yet this week is my cell phone *knock on wood*

In other news, chances are looking good that I’ll be moving to a better paying position where I can still combine my favorite interests and passions in the next two months or so. Don’t want to jinx anything, but it’s looking good.
