Saturday Activities

I’m in the office today working on my talk for tomorrow’s service and the editorials for the next issue of the paper. Later tonight, we’re hosting a concert by Elaine Silver at church. I’ll be helping with anything that needs to be done, although I’m not sure what that will be.

Joanna and Brandon came over last night to help unload some furniture they brought back from California last weekend after my aunt and uncle moved out of Fremont. I was in a bad mood to begin with – Brandon never helps that. At one point, he made some “joke” about me “acting like a girl.” Moments later we were moving a counch down the stairs and I was sooo tempted to push it down on top of him. Someday dear old brother-in-law is going to learn to think before he speaks.

Flipping through the channels last night, I saw Disney’s Brother Bear on one of the channels. Since I’d never seen it before, I decided to watch. Was it predictable? Sure. Were there lots of laughs? Not really. How was the music? So-so. Did the stupid Disney movie involving cuddly animals as the main characters make me cry? Yes. I swear, Disney seems to have this thing for cartoon animals and tragic death. Bambi, Lion King… I’ve been emotionally traumatized by Disney too many times.

The cartoon also reminded me of my summer in Alaska so much that I had to dig out my old photo album and spend an hour flipping through those pictures. I have over 400 pictures from that summer. I realized I have over 5000 pictures in the plastic tub in my closet that I need to start scanning and putting on CD. I’ve been lucky that nothing has happened to them yet.
