Legacy Parkway and Family Medical Update

Happy Birthday *-*-*ldyheron”> and *-*-*anomster”>!

Despite threats against it, the Legislature has signed off on the Legacy Highway Parkway “Compromise.” A woman I work with used to work on the project and we’ve been arguing back and forth about whether or not the lawsuits were in the best interest of the state. Yesterday, an editorial in the Trib pretty much summed up my thoughts. Until the climate in Utah shifts to one of careful analysis of environmental impact before approving these projects, the Sierra Club and other environmental lobbies need to do whatever they can to force the issue into public dialogue.

Jordan’s surgery on Friday went okay, although really late. He was scheduled for surgery a little after 1 p.m., but a problem in an early morning surgery backed up the surgeon’s schedule so Jordan didn’t get in the operating room until after 5. But his recovery is going well enough. Next up on the potentially dangerous medical procedures: Dad’s angioplasty. Since his heart attack, they’ve been trying to get his heart strong enough to do this procedure. He’ll be pretty laid out for Thanksgiving. After Dad, Craig gets eye surgery and Jeanne gets back surgery in December. It’s going to be a hospital gown holiday season.

Actually, joking aside, I’m starting to get worried. I was getting to the point where I wanted to work on moving out of the house, but with the way things have been going, I don’t feel like I can. Mom really needs my help buying Christmas this year. Even with insurance, prescription costs have skyrocketed the last few months. Mom’s starting to get that look she had before they declared bankruptcy (which they’ve finally cleared off their credit).
