The Party

Thursday, January 19th, 2006

So, I just got back from the Volunteer/Staff party kicking off Bob’s Event. I was having a pretty good time at first, until I ran into L. I haven’t seen him in a few days because he’s been up in Park City setting things up. Well, we were chatting about things and he revealed that he and his ex are back together. A-fucking-gain. It felt like a physical punch in the gut. Not just because of my crush, but because it suddenly explains why he hasn’t returned my phone calls or wanted to hang out at all this week.

So, I told him about the possible job offer here in SLC and suddenly he’s singing a new tune. Last week, when he was excited about moving out of SLC after the festival, he was encouraging me to go as well. Now, well, he thinks it’s great and thinks I shoudl stay here.

Anyway, I told him I’d be supportive of whatever decisions he made, but that I was confused and disappointed. Then I opened my slightly drunk mouth and said, “If I were a skinny boy like you chase, i’d give you a reason not to go back to him–show you how you ought to be treated.” Yeah, why do I do this to myself? He kinda grinned at me and said, “Well, you never know…”

WTF! How am I supposed to interpret that?

We got seperated not long after that and I didn’t get another chance to talk to him. So I’m back in the office to pick up my iPod (which I left dowloading songs before heading up to the party), listening to the soundtrack to Brokeback Mountain (I get to see Rufus in two days!!!), and blogging so I can clear my head a bit.
