Okay, lots of picspam to share from the weekend! You can see the whole album, complete with captions, over here at my Flickr account. I’m leaving the captions off this entry if anyone wants to test their celebrity-naming skills, but if you click on the picture, you’ll be taken to my Flickr stream which will have my captions.

Rufus Wainwright is stalking me. Everywhere I went, he kept showing up a few minutes later. Sheesh, he could just offer to be my babydaddy already, I really wouldn’t mind. Since I’m not driving up to Park City today, if he shows up at the office in Salt Lake, I’ll just have to let him has his way with me, I can’t hide any longer.
Okay, quick rundown on the movies I’ve seen so far:
- Wrestling with Angels: Playwright Tony Kushner: Excellent. A bit long (really, did a 3 minute scene of Tony riding the subways enhance my understanding of him?) but otherwise a great documentary about a great man. Reccomended
- Leonard Cohen I’m Your Man: Great. Maybe a little difficult for people completely unfamiliar with Leonard Cohen’s career, but a great place to become addicted if you aren’t already. Plus, Rufus Wainwright and U2. Reccomended (p.s. at the screening I attended, Rufus Wainwright, Stuart Copeland, Judy Collins, and Edge from U2 were all in the audience!!!)
- Son of Man: a bit difficult, but interesting. The story of Jesus retold in modern South Africa. Some poignant political commentary, some fun songs, but slwo or confusing at times. Reccomended
- Quinceañera: great. A touching story about a 14-year-old pregnant virgin, her gay cousin, and their elderly uncle who takes them in when both are rejected by their Latino families. Moving and a great narrative. Reccomended
- Destricted: horrible. 7 respected artists collaborate on a shorts anthology about sex and porn. The result is crappy porn which says nothing new or risky about the topics. Warning: the final short (Gaspar Noe) involved 20 minutes of strobe effect as some ugly guy fucks an inflatable doll. Not Reccomended
- Kinky Boots: predictable, but fun. A british shoemaker courts the drag queen market to save his ancestoral shoe-making business. Reccomended
More reviews as I get to see more films.
