Almost time to go

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

Well, I’m supposed to be getting up in two and a half hours to get ready for the trip to Chicago. Damn insomnia. I haven’t slept more than a few hours in several nights now, and tomorrow is going to be a long day anyway, followed by several more long days. It’s a good thing I decided to take at least the first half of Monday off.

I don’t know if I’ll splurge on wireless access at the hotel or not (probably will), but I promise there will be plenty of pictures at some point. Of course, many of them will feature boring shots of teenagers performing in concerts, but I’ll try and get a few that are more interesting than that to people not related to me ;)

I’ve been getting hooked on podcasts lately, and thought I’d reccomend a few of my favorites. The first really great podcast I heard was BURNcast, although they’ve only done one episode so far. Still, I found the topic interesting and the hosts entertaining. The focus of the show, of course, is the culture of Burning Man.

The naughtiest podcast I subscribe to is Gay Sexcapades, hosted by a remarkably randy 28-year-old with a much more interesting sex life than my own.

I haven’t really formed an opinion on MuggleCast from those crazy kids at Mugglenet.com. Some of the shows have been fun, others just seemed tedious.

Because I like to promote the stories of other queer Utahns, let me also reccomend Queer Media Podcast, the only Queer Utah-based podcast I know of. David’s frequently updated shows often touch on local issues in a way that relates to national and international concerns. Inside Utah also delves into a lot of general Utah topics (and it’s the first podcast I ever appeared on when I gave an interview months ago about Domestic Partner Benefits in SLC).

Finally, my favorite Pagan podcast is deo’s Shadow, which impressed me with it’s professional format, thought-provoking and challenging philosophical commentary, and extensive resources for Pagans. In just a few episodes, it’s certainly given me a lot to think about.

Anyway, those aren’t the only podcasts I listen to, just the ones I’d most reccomend at this point.

Okay, I’ve finished putting King Kong on my iPod for some in-flight entertainment (I also put Serenity and Queen of the Damned on there, so I’m prepared for long days of boring high school concerts). I love my new laptop – it’s speed, it’s capabilities… I never want to turn it off.
