X-3

Okay, so I didn’t hate it as much as other people seem to. No, it’s not the best movie in the X-Men series, but it was okay. Mostly, though, I’m looking forward to the DVD to find out what got cut because the movie felt far too short. Like I’m missing the important scenes between Bobby and Rogue, Colossus and anyone, Angel and anyone, etc.

Also, does anyone else who’s seen it feel like Charles was wrong? Very, very wrong. And his dying words, “Don’t let it control you.” What has that got to do with anything? Jean did let it control her. In fact, when Charles lectures Wolverine (“What have you done?”), I wanted to bitch-slap him and say, “you did it, you manipulative old man! You created this monster! Now you’re going to die unredeemed because you don’t even realize that you’re just as focused and stubborn and dangerous in your zealotry as Magneto! In ‘protecting’ her (and the world from her) to keep your precious peace, you’ve created situation for the Phoenix to get out and destroy everything you’ve worked for.”

But, of course, when the Phoenix is finally free, she just lurks around Magneto for half the movie, not doing anything at all impressive. The comic book Dark Phoenix (destroyer of universes) would never tag along as Magneto’s back-up plan.

Anywho, it’s raining and kinda cold, but all the 10-day forecasts are promising me good weather next weekend (maybe even up into the 90s).

p.s. nope, still smoking, but I had to dust off this icon.
