Blind Prophecy

For better or worse, I just reported yesterday’s incident with a-i-l to the local Child Protective Services. The detective who spoke with me was very honest and admitted that this case is borderline… that suspecting abuse is possible might not be enough to open the case, but that I absolutely did the right thing. Now there’s a report on file and even if they can’t open a case right now, they’ll have record if future reports are made. The detective said that it’s a shame that police weren’t called while he was abusing the dog or after he shoved my mother, then they would have to open a case and there’d be no “if” about it.

So I did the right thing, why am I still shaking so hard? That may be the hardest thing I’ve done.
