Miscellany
Monday, August 21st, 2006I went to see The Illusionist today. I liked it, although the surprise ending wasn’t all that surprising. Still, well crafted and entertaining. I reccomend it.
I also reccomend The 24th Day starring James Marsden and Scott Speedman. It wasn’t a perfect movie… in particular, I had a hard time believing one of Marster’s monologues about the unfairness of labels “gay” and “straight” blah blah. It just didn’t ring true. Overall, though, I appreciated the touchy points of the film and complicated questions it asked.
Before going to see the movie, I shopped in the Haight for some black and white clothing for next weekend. Didn’t have a lot of luck. I saw an awesome pair of striped pants, but the cut just didn’t work right. Still too much tummy to pull off the low rise look. It’s a shame, because they would have been perfect.
Also, reading House of Leaves is a dangerous thing for sanity. Especially when you’re on the bus and getting strange looks because you keep turning the book sideways or upside-down to read everything on the page.
I should have gone to the gym today, but after three hours of walking around Haight, I didn’t feel like it. I’ll take my gym clothes with me to work tomorrow and stop by on the way home.
