Say it Somehow

Things have finally slowed down a bit at work. The Summit program book is finally at the printer. It’s also online now, if anyone is interested in seeing the fruits of my labor (and that of many other people). I’ve also been working on our newsletter and updating the website, so there’s still plenty to do, but it’s not quite as intense as the first two weeks.

We had an office lunch party this afternoon to celebrate getting the program book done (which, in reality, means that we’ve nailed down the hardest parts of planning the Summit – it’s all execution from here on out). They welcomed the new staff members with embroidered fleece jackets and they presented me with an award for “Editor of the Year.” It was fun and a nice lunch.

Office BuildingDid I mention the naked guy statue above the entrance to our offices? I snapped a picture the other day.

Jessica came down with Strep throat, so she’s been laying low the last few days. She needed to get out of her place for a while tonight, so we went out for ice cream earlier this evening.

I’m really excited about tomorrow. I’ve been listening to The Light in the Piazza all day. I ended up telling old theater stories to Jessica the whole time we were out (I don’t think she realized exactly how much of a theatre nerd I was). Now she’s trying to convince me I should get involved in a local theatre group. It’s not a bad idea, but any worthwhile theatre experience steals your social life for weeks on end (“I can’t, I have rehearsal”) and I sorta like my social life as it is right now.

I need to remember to book my holiday flights on the next paycheck, before the costs get any higher. Plus, I still have options for flight times at this point. In years past, I’ve waited until the last minute and had to take whatever bizarre flights were still open.

I’m also excited about the new comics coming out tomorrow – new Astonishing X-Men and Eternals. Whee.
