Folsom and Books

Folsom Street was interesting, but not as wild as Up Your Alley (a.k.a. Dore Alley – which I talked about here). Maybe I’ve been in San Francisco long enough that these things don’t shock me as much, or maybe it was just tamer in general. Or maybe I was tired already from a busy weekend and not so into it.
Anyway, the picture shows my outfit, although you don’t get the full effect without the studded jeans, but at least I managed to get one picture of myself (even if it was in my apartment and not actually at the event.
So I’m reading The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman. I’m about 2/3 in and while I like it, I’ve had enough of the mystery and getting-to-know-the-universe stuff. I’m ready for some action and some answers. I finished Perdino Street Station by China Mieville a few days ago. I did like that one a lot, although I can’t say I’m entirely satisfied with the ending.
New books in my “to be read” pile include: The Scar, also by China Mieville; Only Revulotions by Mark Z. Danielewski; The Night Listener by Armistead Maupin; Primal Branding: Create Zealots for Your Brand, Your Company, and Your Future by Patrick Hanlon; and All Marketers Are Liars: The Power of Telling Authentic Stories In a Low-Trust World by Seth Godin.
