The Fountain
Saturday, November 25th, 2006I just got home from watching The Fountain. I really liked it, and Hugh Jackman is forgiven for his acting in The Prestige, which I now suspect might have been a case of a) bad direction, or b) an underdeveloped characer, or c) the inevitable result of being placed alongside Christian Bale and Michael Caine in most scenes. Rachel Weisz also did a great job. The movie was dense with symbolism around the use of light, repetition, and (of course) trees… but I think I’d need a second viewing to write anything articulate about the topic.
Although I really don’t know about movies where 2/3 of the time I’m fighting back tears.
Otherwise, today was a fantastic uneventful day. I watched some TV, didn’t get out of bed until late afternoon, and enjoyed a true day off.
