Here we go…

2007 is not starting off slowly at work. I already have (I’m not kidding) 23 meetings scheduled in the next three weeks – and somehow I’ve stil got to stay on top of my goals and regular workflow. Eek.

Can’t stay online too long tonight. I left my power cord at the office, so I’m limited to battery juice. And TV really sucks tonight. At least I’ve still got my video games (although a cigarette or 20 would be really great about now).

Speaking of… I’ve been surprisingly pleasant over the last two days. I think I’ve actually been nicer and friendlier than ever. Except for at the gym, where the “two week resolution tourists” have descended in force. Not so nice to those people. I’m not impressed by the 109-pound, 21-year-old gals who complain about being “so out of shape” while walking on the treadmill at a pace a geriatric with a hip replacement would find easy while there’s a line for any available cardio equipment. Quit tying up my machines you silly bints!

I’ve been listening to The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance all day. My favorite song is still “Teenagers” …

They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me,
They could care less as long as someone’ll bleed.
So darken your clothes,
And strike a violent pose,
Maybe they’ll leave you alone, but not me.

The whole album makes good workout music, though. I like angry rock for my workouts. Whenever I start getting tired or thinking I should quit before reaching my goal, I crank the volume up a few notches and tap into some of my own buried rage to motivate myself (if anyone could hear my internal monologue at those moments, they’d think I was seriously masochistic and self-abusive).

New Year’s Eve was fun. Jennifer and Daniel both had their mothers in town, so we all went for sushi and then drinks at the Toronado. The moms headed home before midnight, so Jennifer and Daniel and I rang in the new year at Noc Noc. Apparently, Lower Haight is the place to be on NYE if you don’t love crowds. In fact, the last time I saw those bars so empty on a night before a non-work day was over Burning Man weekend. I have a few pictures on Flickr, including some shots of the the San Francisco tradition that on the last work day of the year, you toss your daily calendar out the office window.
