Blind Prophecy

An example of the insanity I have to deal with from time-to-time…

All week long, our website has been broken. Not on the user end, on the webmaster end. I thought I’d screwed something up last Friday and was more than happy to take the blame. I was upfront with everyone and admitted that it was probably me that broke the website.

Turns out it wasn’t me at all. The hosting company had forgot to change a setting for our FTP service and we’d “maxed out” our FTP for the month. In other words, I was doing my job too well and processing too many updates, new files and images into our website.

However, I now have 4 days of website changes to catch up on. From really big and important and time-sensitive changes to minor stuff. I’ve made no secret of the fact that it’s going to take me a while to catch up on the changes and I’ve repeatedly asked the staff to be patient.
