Super Tuesday

Good but crazy day at the office today. The morning was spent on releasing our ENDA Press Release and trying to send bulk mail with our new/temporary bulk email system (it didn’t work).

In the afternoon, Jennifer came to the office to help us brainstorm around one of our upcoming projects (applying her job skills as a volunteer to help us out). It was really fun having Jennifer at my office for the afternoon, and as productive as was possible on the E.D’s birthday (massive distraction, that). After work, I went bra shopping with her before meeting up with Daniel for dinner.

During dinner, we were joking about a newspaper headline we’d seen on the way to the restaurant, “Aggressive Elephant Seal Menaces Sonoma Beaches.” Daniel pointed out that, in fairness to the seal, “it doesn’t take much to menace Sonoma Residents. ‘Oh, look! A guy wearing corduroy!’”

By the way, the seal has been named “nibbles.” You can’t write that shit.

Also, I got called by a reporter on deadline regarding the ENDA bill and did a brief radio interview for The Quake which broadcast earlier tonight and will rerun on Friday.

Tomorrow I’ll be dealing with the problems of our bulk mail system and catching up on other projects.

I got an advance copy of Rufus Wainwright’s new album Release the Stars (due out May 15 I believe) and it’s wonderful. This could very well be his best album yet. The first single “Going to a Town” is likely to replace “Hallelujah” as his torch/signature song from now on (which is awesome since he actually wrote this one)…

Tell me, do you really think you go to hell for having loved?
Tell me, enough of thinking everything that you’ve done is good
I really need to know, after soaking the body of Jesus Christ in blood
I’m so tired of America

I also really love “Leaving for Paris No. 2″ and “Between My Legs” – very different songs but both somewhat experimental and a break from previous styles of Rufus songs.

“Slideshow” is touching and causes me to flinch a bit emotionally at the mental landscape of the song's speaker. Too familiar. Plus it ends with Rufus repeating “Do I Love You? Yes I Do.” several times. Oh, Rufus, I love you, too. ;)

While I’m commenting on music… Check out “Convocation” by Unempty. Just make sure you have some decent bass to get the full effect. I’m sometimes blown away by the talent of my friends.

ETA: Almost forgot to mention… Kucinich pushing articles of impeachment on Cheney, Office of Special Counsel investigating Rove, and the ongoing implosion of Alberto Gonzales, White House aides pleading guilty in the Abramoff case and top military generals becoming openly vocal in their complaints about the war… today was up there with the November ’06 elections/Rumsfeld resignation day.
