Memorial Day Weekend
Monday, May 28th, 2007Tomorrow is the big day, the first anniversary of my 29th birthday.
It’s been an adventurous holiday weekend. We took a half-day at work on Friday, so I spent the afternoon in the gym, hurting myself.
I slept in most of the day on Saturday, but we went out again for dinner and a movie on Saturday night. We went to see 28 Weeks Later. I never saw 28 Days Later, but it wasn’t hard to pick up on the basic plot. It was gory and reminded me why I don’t watch a lot of horror. The story was okay, but I thought it was fairly predictable. Hmm, things are calm and quiet, nothing could possibly jump out and try to eat anyone right now.
On Sunday, Carnaval SF took over my neighborhood. Or as some of my friends from Utah might call it, “Oh My God Illegals Get My Gun!” and as some of my friends from Vegas might call it, “I Haven’t Seen This Many Girls Wearing Bikinis and Feathers Since Tuesday.” I was supposed to get up early enough to go to Jessica’s for breakfast, but that didn’t happen. Since the staging area for the grand parade was right near my place, I did catch about 3 hours of the parade.
After Carnaval, I needed to do something fun for myself, so I went to see Shrek the Third. It was okay, not as funny as the first or second movie, but a cute diversion for a few hours.
This morning, I wandered down to Mission Dolores Park to read a book and take in some sun. Also, to watch the hot guys sunbathing.
I think I’m going to chill out this afternoon, maybe go hurt myself at the gym again later. Play some video games. Here’s to low-key birthday weekends.
