Computer go poof!
Thursday, July 19th, 2007So late last night, I’m sitting on my computer at home trying to simultaneously add notes to my “Law School Application Ideas” file while proofing our upcoming newsletter online and downloading podcasts when suddenly my laptop screen went blank. The lights that tell me it’s on were still lit, but nothing from the monitor. After trying a soft shut down (didn’t work), I tried a hard shut down (also didn’t work… the computer literally refused to shut down no matter how long I held the power button), I finally had to cut power and remove the battery to shut the system down. So, once I’d done that, I tried rebooting… nothing. The lights came on, but I can’t boot from hard drive, CD or any other method I can discover. Also, every attempt means I have to disconnect the power cord and battery to turn the system off.
I so *don’t* have money for a new laptop right now. I don’t even have the money for repairs. This is not cool.
On the other hand, this pretty much guarantees that I won’t be exposed to any online Harry Potter spoilers over the weekend.
