Halloween was… well, it was anti-climactic. I tried getting out of the house in the evening, but I couldn’t seem to reach any of my friends and I started feeling unwell, so I ended up re-alphabetizing my DVD collection and cleaning my room. I did wear my costume to the office, though, so it wasn’t like I had no Halloween spirit at all.

At least yesterday was new comic day, so I had something to distract me in the evening. I was really looking forward to
X-Men: Messiah Complex, but was rather disappointed with chapter 1, especially considering I had to make 3 stops to find a store that had it in. No answers, no hints, just the set-up to another lackluster back-of-the-book storyline (e.g.
Endangered Species, which neither solved anything nor moved the universe along in any significant way… in fact, the whole thing felt like exposition for
this story). What I did enjoy, however, was the trade paperback I picked up for the Immortal Iron Fist. I’m not especially familiar with his character (although I do know his cohorts–Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, and Luke Cage–in their current incarnations), but I like the art and the storytelling style. I do miss the original costume, though. Open chest and dramatic 70s collar treatment are way hot.

Anyway, since I took today off, I slept in until way late in the afternoon and then watched my new DVD of
Spider-man 3. I sorta need to do laundry, but it’s
Ugly Betty night and I’m in no hurry.
