It’s a Gay Video Smorgasbord
In an effort to close some tabs on my browser, today’s post is largely a round-up of YouTube clips that have caught my attention. Let’s start with Dr. Horrible Barney Doogie Howser The Shoe Fairy! Aside from sleeping with men, this may be the gayest thing about Neil Patrick Harris.
And, of course, aside from sleeping with men, the gayest thing about me is my devoted love for musical theatre. All the same, I have mixed feelings about REPO! The Genetic Opera. On the one hand, the music sounds awesome, I love Anthony Stewart Head (Giles from Buffy) and it was Miss Sarah Brightman’s soaring vocal in The Phantom of the Opera that first began my lifelong obsession with stories that involve sung-through emotional arcs. On the other hand, I really want to boycott anything that extends the “fame” of Paris Hilton.
Continuing our theme of cute gay guys, musical theatre, and sci-fi/fantasy, let’s turn to a man who embodies all three, Mr. John Barrowman. Recently, John participated in a documentary about the cause of homosexuality. Here’s a clip…
Now, I love Mr. Barrowman, but it makes me cringe when people say things like “I’m gay because I have no control over it.” Fixating on the cause of homosexuality, bisexuality and transgender identity misses one of the greater truths - that even if I did “choose” to be gay, I still deserve equal rights and fair treatment. People aren’t born Mormon or Muslim or Methodist, but we still offer protections based on religious conviction. Besides, when you insist on finding a single biological cause of homosexuality, people almost always try to invalidate or ignore the reality of many bisexual people.
So, let’s finish off with a video that includes no shortage of hot kissing without much concern about gender consistency.
Tomorrow is my last full day in San Francisco. Meeting a friend for coffee in the morning, then heading over to the Dore Alley “Up Your Alley” Festival. I finished packing today, so I’m living out of suitcases and travel bags for the next week.

Love the points you’ve made. (Have made them myself.)
Good luck with the move!
