Just some random notes

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Since I’m working 9 of the last 12 shopping days until Christmas (plus Boxing Day and the two days after it), I may be a bit light on the blogging though the new year. I’ll try to get to my end-of-year lists and resolutions, but there’s no guarantee.

The roomies and I are going to see Milk after I get off work tomorrow. I have the early shift, so we’ll be able to make the 4:30 showing at the Esquire theatre. I’m really excited to see this movie after so many of my friends have raved about it. I just hope it hasn’t been built up too much for me.

Favorite new additions to the iPod: Pushing Daisies soundtrack (specifically the three vocal arrangements with Kristen Chenowith and Ellen Green: “Morning Has Broken” “Birdhouse in Your Soul” and “Hopelessly Devoted”), soundtrack to Were the World Mine, and DJ Earworm’s mashup “If I Were a Free-Fallin’ Boy” with Beyonce and Tom Petty. Watch the video below:

My holiday package for my sister’s family has been mailed. My holiday package from my brother has arrived. I totally waiting until Christmas to open it. Okay, that’s a big old lie. Thanks, Jared! It’s exactly the first three things on my list!

Speaking of Jared, it’s birthday season in the Keys family. Jared turned 17 yesterday. Only 364 days left until all my siblings are legally allowed to vote and sign contracts and stuff. Jacki is a proud twenty-something. Alexia is old enough to be throwing a big Hannah Montana birthday party and Mom had her birthday at the beginning of the month. I still suck at remembering to call on their birthdays, but I did manage to remember text messages this year, which proves that I’m not completely unaware of the significant dates in my family’s life.

I’m reading the Dexter Morgan books by Jeff Lindsay. I’m half-way though the third one, Dexter in the Dark, right now and will probably finish it on Monday. I recommend the books to my fellow Dexter fans. They have a wit and a gruesomeness that is lost in the television adaptation. Full review later.

Still waiting on my law school decisions. I’m spending way to much time watching lawschoolnumbers.com for updates comparing when people had completed files with when they got their decisions. I hope to begin hearing something really soon. I’m trying to use this waiting period to research scholarship opportunities. January will be all about getting my financial aid in order once the FAFSA is available and I’ve got my tax stuff together.

I’m getting ready to do an update of my blogroll. Several new people have been commenting and linking to my blog and I always like to return the favor, so if you want me to add you to the links in the sidebar, please let me know.

  1. That mashup is really interesting. And works much better than I thought it would. Though personally, I prefer “Si Yo Fuera Un Chico” to “If I Were A Boy.”

It’s birthday season in my fam too! Kinda. Yesterday was my sister’s b-day and today is mine. So that’s birthday season to me.
