Summer Begins?

Tulips in Burnett Woods just off the Clifton/Ludlow entrance.
Such ridonkulously nice weather this weekend, it makes me mad I agreed to substitute teach this weekend (but I could use the money). I spent most of yesterday melting on the public transit as I ran errands then hiding in my room to prep the lesson. I’ll be spending today working the sabbath and figuring out how to get to Northern Kentucky University and back by public transit on a Sunday.
This 80 degree weather caught us by surprise. Jacob’s trying to reinstall the air conditioner units we took out last fall to conserve heat. I’ve gone right from complaining about the cold to bitching about the heat and humidity. Since I’ve been really good about sticking to my workout schedule this month, I’m having humidity-induced chafing issues. Let’s just say that this is one of those rare occasions where I’m glad no one other than me has a particular interest in what’s going on beneath the underwear.
I always knew Bea Arthur was beloved by the gays (including me), but yesterday’s blogs, facebook updates, twitter messages and YouTube comments had me wondering if someone had declared a national day of mourning. While everyone is split on the question of whether she is best known for her work in Maude or Golden Girls, I especially loved her as Judge Claude Frollo in Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame (kidding! kidding!)

Ah. The death of Bea Arthur and the arrival of summer. Two things that make me very sad.
