Bunnies and Books

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

Easter just isn’t the same without Dolores Park and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Also, not a bit of chocolate in this house. I haven’t even received any picture messages with my nieces and nephew in adorable Easter outfits (although I did get one from my cousin of her son). My trip to the downtown [...]

A Whirl of Adventure

Friday, April 10th, 2009

The year was 1999, the place, Denali National Park, Alaska. There was nothing especially unique about this can of Whirl (“a revolutionary healthier [non-freezing in sub-arctic temperatures] alternative to butter… Whirl is a liquid vegetable oil with a rich delicious buttery taste which can be used for shallow frying, grilling, roasting and as a recipe [...]

A Storm is Brewing

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Since I haven’t said “Hooray Vermont, Iowa, and Washington DC” on the blog yet, there is this… If you’re not in on the joke, the video is a parody the National Organization for Marriage’s hysterics and lie-filled new ad including the actor audition reels the HRC uncovered (and while at that second link, read the [...]

The Time I Rode an Elephant

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Since I have a bit of down time this week, I’ve been scanning more photos from the shoebox. In the process, I came across this photo from the time I visited Florida during 6th grade… I was in Florida visiting friends who had moved there over the summer and because there was a bad situation [...]

A Night Out

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

So I actually made it out of the house last night. We went to see our friend Opie and his band (The Deadbeats) perform at the Blue Rock Tavern. I was impressed with how good they were. In related news, I need to get back in proper drinking shape. Four Captain & Diets in two [...]

World Pillow Fight Day in Northside

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

I walked by Hoffner Park this afternoon while trying to find someplace nearby that sold stamps. Apparently, Cincinnati was participating in World Pillow Fight Day. I guess there was another pillow fight happening downtown at Fountain Square, but a few people showed up at Hoffner Park, too. And by “people” I mean children, of course.

Diggs will drip on you!

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

After a lovely, warm day, the rain started coming down after dark. The dogs just came back from a walk and Diggs decided to escape crazy puppy doctor Frankie by hiding in my room. He does that a lot. I usually don’t mind, but he’s completely wet, on my bed, and stubbornly ignoring my commands [...]

Frankie sees you!

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Puppies are a lot of work. Frankie (a.k.a. “Doctor Frankie Stein” as I call her) never seems to run out of energy. Because our respective schedules leave the house empty for a few hours on days I work, she gets put in the pantry, the only puppy-proof spot in the house, even on days when [...]
