My Favorite Bag

So, in my packing fun, I have to share with you my favorite bag:

Why is this my favorite bag? No, not because it’s a great gym bag (though it is). No, not because it has a trendy Nike logo. No, not because it has comfortable shoulder strap.

It’s my favorite bag because it’s one that I haven’t actually unpacked since moving to Cincinnati.

And you’ll never guess what’s inside it.

More bags! 14 to be exact. Reusable market bags, messenger bags, backpacks, smaller gym totes, a camera bag, and conference bags from attending 6 conferences in two years at former job.

When you consider the 7 other bags I have which are not stuffed inside this tote, I feel as though I should maybe cut down the number of bags in my life, but I’ll wait until I get settled in to New York life and figure out the best method of transporting law books, laptop, groceries, etc., in the city.

  1. Aw, poop. I was going to guess human heads.

Oh, I don’t hang on to those. It sounds like a good idea, but then it gets really messy and smelly. Not to mention the pest problems. No, I just dump the heads in the river with the rest of the bodies.

  2. Are you sad that it’s a great gym bag but you don’t use it for the gym? Seems like a waste of gym bag potential.

My current gym is literally right across the street from our house – less than 100 feet. I don’t bother to pack a gym bag, I just get dressed and shower at home. Same will probably be true of the fitness center in the dorm at Fordham. But it’s nice to know I have a good gym bag when the time comes to start shelling out obscene amounts of money for a membership again.

  3. I have a bag of bags too. In fact, I have three. One is a large suitcase (it also holds jackets and winter gear) and the other is a bag that holds all the shopping bags from various stores I use as gift bags.

Thank you for helping me realize my true pack-rat tendencies with your blog posts, Jere.

There’s nothing wrong with being a packrat if you aren’t moving into a room in New York about 1/3 the size of your current space.
