Cute little thing
Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009Baby Ace seems to be healthy and happy. And cute.
I’m finding my routine with law school, but it really is as busy as everyone says it is. I’m trying to stay a little bit ahead in my reading, but it took a lot of discipline to resist watching Weeds or True Blood until I had all my work for this week finished. Luckily those shows have had or are about to have their season finales… although new episodes of Glee are coming soon… Anyway, I still have review reading each night, but I’m prepared enough to engage the topics in class, so I’m not exactly slacking off.
I also started picking up non-academic commitments this week. The Stein Scholar committees don’t come as a surprise, but I’ve tentatively signed up to be a BarBri rep and to volunteer for a program helping victims of abuse obtain restraining orders.
Still don’t know what is going on with my student loans, and now I can’t seem to get a reply from the financial aid office. I’m going to have to make another in-person visit if I don’t get some notice from them tomorrow. I don’t think I can handle the 3 day weekend without some indication about where the process is.
So, I haven’t mentioned this before, but when we showed up to the first day of class, one of the panes of glass in the Atrium ceiling had fallen out. It’s still missing and the area below is barricaded off. I’m assuming this is not an omen of some kind (or possibly a metaphor for the financial aid/registrar/busar/assorted administration aspect of the school), but whenever I see the Fordham logo, which is basically a graphic representation of the Atrium’s shape, I want to black out one of the boxes (as illustrated).

Go to financial aid in person! I call and e-mail my financial aid department all the time and never get responses.
But when I show up in person, stuff gets worked out. And just so you know, my school doesn’t process loans/grants until the Drop/Add period is over. If that’s what you’re even worried about….
I’m glad you’re getting into the groove of things! I’m getting used to my super busy schedule (and wishing I had time for dinner).

There are people in my class who already have their refunds – it’s a problem because I was forced to make some changes to my application (after following their initial recommendations/instructions to the letter) later in the summer. Also, first year law school students don’t have an add/drop period because our classes are assigned to us. We don’t get any say in the matter until our second year when people start to specialize a bit.
Not to make light of your financial aid situation, which I hope is resolved soon, but how CUTE is Owen Ace?!!? I want to see him smile and giggle.
