Once when the company I worked for had an atrium that overlooked Broadway, we had an event for Board members and got to watch the parade from the comfort of the atrium, which was cool. The day of I'll be heading into NJ for dinner with the folks so watching the parade isn't really an option. Alternately, I'd be up for watching them inflate the balloons the night before, which I've done in the past, although the crowds are pretty awful for that as well. Also, my parents have a clear "widows and orphans" policy, so if you really will be alone that night, know that you have a place at our table if you want it. I’ve never watched the parade, at least on the streets.
