But what does any of this have to do with equitable servitudes?
Thursday, December 17th, 2009I’ve got a four hour exam in property law this afternoon and based on the professor’s old exams, it’s going to be a monster. Wish me luck.
In the meanwhile, there are three more tracks that are must-haves for any holiday playlist:
I’ve Got a Boner for Christmas – Nerf Herder
Christmas in the Stars – Star Wars
Sleigh Ride – Star Wars
You’re welcome.

And a quick story… on my last holiday playlist post, I included an MP3 of Michael Arden singing the Joni Mitchell classic “River,” earning me the scorn of someone who wondered why I’d even bother with a cover when the Joni version exists… Anyway, I had to run to Starbucks last night to get some late-night study coffee and who should I see waiting on a drink? Yup. Michael Arden. (If I’m just crazy and it wasn’t actually him, it was his long-lost twin brother) And can you guess what was playing on my iPod at that very moment? Yup. “River” as sung by Michael Arden. So, of course, I got painfully shy, stared at him awkwardly, got my coffee and practically ran back to school. Since I so rarely get to venture off campus, this was my first random New York celebrity sighting (unless you count the Puntabugang).
Well, I should get some sleep so I can do a morning jog before the exam.
Happy Saturnalia!

Never heard of this Michael Arden fellow, but he sure is cute. I love the song River. I have three versions on my ipod, Joni Mitchell, Sarah McLachlan, and Robert Downey Jr (from the Ally McBeal soundtrack!) Such a great song.

This is the reason I tagged the post “theatregeekery” – unless you’re a mega-fan of any of the few TV shows he has done (like “Kings” where he played the secret boyfriend of Jack), he’s mostly a theatre-world celebrity, and even then not a universally recognizable name.
I’m never heard of him either, and I’m not sure I’ve heard of the song…but with all those different versions, I probably have. I’ll have to look it up on YouTube, see if I can find it. but random celebrity sighting!!! SWEET!!! I had one of those in Toronto once, and I got all giddy and stupid just like you did. Although I did eventually talk to him and get a photo. Oh, it Shawn Ashmore, Iceman of the X-Men movies.
HUGS…

Are you sure it wasn’t his identical twin brother Aaron Ashmore of “Smallville” fame?

no, it actually was him, cause we spoke and he introduced himself as Shawn. Still, meeting both of them would be pretty cool…at the same time….I could be the meat inside an Ashmore sandwich!!!
HUGS…
WHAT?!?!? Why would you even run into Michael Arden and not the original performer??
No one is better than Joni.

I actually thought Joni was dead until fairly recently. If I had run into her, I might have assumed she was a zombie and taken appropriate shotgun-to-the-head precautions.

If you ran into the zombie of Joni Mitchell, you wouldn’t shoot her you dummy. You’d ask her to write some more songs posthumously because no one can write depressing music from beyond the grave like she could. RUDE.

Enirkcyricardo, Joni’s better than Stevie?
Wait, Joni’s NOT dead?
Better late than never, GOOD LUCK!
How did it go?
I would run over Michael Arden with my car and be clueless. Well, he’d likely break the windshield but I’ve never heard of him, nor have I heard “River”, but hey, a celeb is a celeb.
I know I’m late but I hope your exam went well.
I have the Joni, Sarah McLachlan and James Taylor versions. I’ll have to give the Michael Arden version a listen. How cool if that was really him in Starbucks!
