Check-in With the ’09 Resolutions

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Before moving on to a new set, it’s time to check in with the resolutions for 2009.

  1. Leave Cincinnati. Done, obviously.
  2. Own less. Also done. Although I haven’t yet succeeded in reducing all my belongings to a pair of duffle bags, I have dramatically reduced the amount of junk I’m dragging around with me. I’ll probably continue to shed stuff as I move again this summer.
  3. See more live theatre. Fail. I’ve been too poor and too busy to get to see any shows, but now that I’m in New York, I’ll try again next year.
  4. Write more. Maybe. It’s hard to measure, but I think I’ve done more writing this year than the year before.
  5. That dating thing, yeah. Sure. There have been dates this year, which is an improvement over 2008. Let’s leave it at that.
  6. Kill the giant squid in the bathroom. That mofo is dead.

Although I deliberately left off the “quit smoking” and “lose weight” resolutions last year, I did both.

I still need to do some more thinking about the resolutions for 2010.

  1. Great job! Doesn’t it feel so good to see so many things checked off your list?!

    Keep up the good work!

  2. Congrats?!?!
My resolutions for 2010 are to write more music, cry more, stay drug-free and virginal, write more poetry, and get famous with Josh!

I don’t approve of one of these resolutions. Yes, you know which one. ;)

  4. Yay you! I’d actually be a bit concerned if I knew someone over the age of 7 who could fit ALL of their belongings in two duffel bags. That screams of “I may be homeless any day now but I’ll always have my stuff”. A few boxes are fine, really. All stuff is not bad.

Well, that sort of stuff lives in the closet under my parent’s stairs until I settle into an apartment or home I expect to stay at for more than a year.

  5. Re: theatre. 2 thoughts: (1) student rush and (2) TDF.org. As a student, you can sign up and order discounted seats on-line, instead of going the day of to the TKTS booth (which is also more expensive).
