Hacked
Wednesday, May 5th, 2010So the gmail account I use to aggregate all my various email addresses got hacked this morning. It’s also the gmail account associated with my phone, my bank accounts, my facebook profile, and a whole lot of sensitive information. For the next 24 hours, at least, I’m locked out of that gmail account.
No, I’m not in Cambridge or Scotland or wherever after having been mugged by some “hoodlums.” I’m in New York and I’m about 25 hours away from my first final of the semester. I only wish that I’d spent the last few days overseas, it sounds way more adventurous than taking practice exams on the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Anyway, my apologies if you got spammed.
In the meantime, my twitter is still in my control and I’ve stopped my law school email (FirstInitialLastName at law.fordham.edu) and website email (FirstName at jerekeys.com) from aggregating in the hacked gmail account for now, so feel free to reach me by any of those methods or comment on the blog if you need my attention.
Eta: I got Gmail back.

oh no! how does this even happen! sooooo scary! You are handling all the stress quite well though. I’m such a fragile bunch of flores that i would have asphixiated mahself on my own wailing sobs by now!
I dont think anyone got into my Facebook account, but I did get a warning a few months ago when I tried to log in. They said it appeared someone from liek Barbados or whereever was attempting to access my account, or something like that. Every day, for the next ten days, I changed my password to an entirely random set of numbers and letters. Haven’t had a bit of a problem since then, thank God. I hate when shit like this happens!
Good luck on getting it all straightened out.
HUGS…

I got the spam, but it didn’t sound like you & did sound like the one that was supposedly from LittleBit a few months ago. But I checked here anyway…which is something I ought to do more often in any case! I’m glad the email’s a fake & sorry you have to deal w/the results. Hope the compromised info doesn’t cause you further problems.
And oh, yeah, good luck on your finals!
Well, soon as I read the first line I knew it wasn’t you because you’d never blow off finals to traipse around Europe hanging with hoodlums.
What a pain in the ass though to have to now double check that all your stuff is secure. Ugh. Mojo on that exam.
Ugh, sorry that this happened and even more about the timing of it! Hopefully this will be the extent of the damage.
Good luck on the exam!
OH! So that wasn’t really you who sent me that email about Viagra??
