So I actually made it out of the house last night. We went to see our friend Opie and his band (The Deadbeats) perform at the Blue Rock Tavern. I was impressed with how good they were. In related news, I need to get back in proper drinking shape. Four Captain & Diets in two [...]

I walked by Hoffner Park this afternoon while trying to find someplace nearby that sold stamps. Apparently, Cincinnati was participating in World Pillow Fight Day. I guess there was another pillow fight happening downtown at Fountain Square, but a few people showed up at Hoffner Park, too. And by “people” I mean children, of course.

Lordy, lordy, the day I’ve had. I have a blister the size of a dime on the back of my foot because I had to walk 4 miles across town because of an unannounced detour on my crosstown bus and a delay of over an hour between the bus I should have been on and [...]

This came to me from Cameron Tolle and Impact Cincinnati (via facebook): (Update: The original organizers are Cincinnati Guerilla Queer Bar) as many of you may know, there was a serious hate crime against fellow queers near UC’s campus the night of March 6th. We need to take a stand for our community and show [...]

I can’t tell you how much I adored Natasha Richardson’s performances in the 1998 revival of Cabaret (or, her performance on the CD, anyway, since I never saw it live). I’m a fan of Liza with a Z as much as any theatre queer, but I doubt I’d have really paid this musical much attention [...]

Yesterday I presented the new logo for Cincinnati Pride without saying anything especially critical in the blog post. I was more interested in getting other people’s reactions. When I first heard the Pride theme (after returning home from my October visit to NYC which caused me to miss the Pride meeting where it was chosen), [...]

This is the theme and logo for Cincinnati’s LGBT Pride celebration this summer. *blinks* You know, in light of the recent international attention paid to one Utah State Senator Chris Buttars’s comment that gays engage in “pig sex” (not to mention the negative reaction local bloggers have had to the theme), I hoped that someone [...]

Rare moment of pretty in a crazy weather day. This photo was taken after the sirens and tornado warnings stopped, but before we lost power in the general high winds (of the non-tornado variety). It looks like a lot of folks still don’t have electricity, but my neighborhood is back in the grid.

Since the gym is closed from the snow and ice, I decided to walk around Northside taking pictures as my exercise for the day. The ice-coated trees were really pretty when the sun came out from behind clouds.

Well, first off, I want to mention that I’ve resigned my role with Cincinnati Pride. Looking at my teaching schedule in March-May and assessing my own enthusiasm for the position, as well as some anticipated spring travel plans, it just didn’t seem like a good idea to fill a spot that should be filled with [...]
