Winchester Mystery House
So I took a half day today, working in the morning and joining the Club Creatures for a trip to San Jose for a tour of the Winchester Mystery House. Most people were just showing up as I left the office.
I’ve heard the tale of the Winchester house since I was an elementary student who loved checking out the Time-Life Mysteries of the Unknown series from the school library. This was my first opportunity to visit, though. It was pretty cool. I was impressed by how beautiful it was, despite all the crazy stairways and bizarre unfinished rooms and doorways that opened onto nothing. The Victorian styles and the stained glass… especially the Tiffany glass… were gorgeous. The grounds and the fountains were lovely. At one point, I muttered, “Now I want to be a batty, wealthy, old widow!”
Jennifer and Jacob joined us for dinner. At this point, it’s getting ridiculous how many people there are with “J” named in my life. At this dinner alone, we had Jeanne, Jojo, Jennifer, Jacob, and me (and Christopher’s real first name is John). After dinner, we stopped for a few drinks at a bar on Polk, but didn’t stay out too late.
The rest of the gang was planning on doing a wine country tour tomorrow, but I need to work.
